Warnings Ignored

I received this note:

From: SR
Subject: Mail Order Brides

Sorry you got burned and thanks for the warning. However, if I had seen and heeded it a long time ago I would have missed out on 12 years of wedded bliss. Not trying to be hostile here but you said it yourself, you ignored the warning signs. I did not and as a consequence married a delightful woman from the Philippines.

I didn't e-mail this guy since I don't want to fight. But this is arrogance. This arrogant man thinks he would have seen and responded to the warnings signs had he been in my shoes. He also thinks that because he won the mail order lottery it can't be too hard for someone else to win. The truth is a long shot is a long shot. Some people will win, but only a very few. Is it worth the cost? Would you bet $5,000 to $10,000 on one lotto game?

And before anyone gets any ideas about women from the Philippines, I hope they remember that the differences among citizens of different nations is superficial. Underneath we are all humans with the same reflexes. And if you don't agree, read my article on nationalism
